In 2018, following league expansion, Austin Buck contacted league members to inform them of his interest in the league. He had been offended that he was not contacted as an option before Leroy Jenkins owner Landry Wilkinson. League commissioner, Zac Shaffer, informed him that if expansion, or the loss of an owner ever happened he would be contacted and interviewed.

The fall of 2020 after league owners voted on a rule change that was disagreed upon by Landry Wilkinson, he opted to terminate his membership at the end of the season. The league convened and discussed multiple options. But Austin Buck was the final choice and he was invited to take the roll of ownership for Leroy Jenkins and would be given full creative rights as soon as the year ended. For 2021, Buck's first year his choice the new team name of THE MIGHTY BUCKS that would replace Leroy Jenkins.

Drafting first overall in 2021, just a year after Landry Wilkinson imploded the roster, The Mighty Bucks were seemingly in rebuild mode. They kept Patrick Mahomes and trio of receivers: DK Metcalf, Justin Jefferson and Mike Evans. They needed running backs and needed them bad. Two of their first three picks were Running Backs Ezekiel Elliott and Antonio Gibson. They also snagged Justin Herbert, TJ Hockenson, Jamaar Chase and Tony Pollard. The Mighty Bucks were actually projected to finish 6-8 and in 5th place. But they managed to improve by one game and went 7-7 and finished in 3rd place. And if not for Lamar Jackson in week 5, they would've been 8-6 and in 2nd place. The Mighty Bucks were a team on a mission as they made their first playoff appearance. They shocked 2 seed Jayhawks 174-157 to make their first ever championship game and that's where Playoff MVP Patrick Mahomes and company shocked the league by knocking off reigning champions Team 190-181 thanks to Dallas Cowboys defense's impressive 30 plus point outing to win them THE SIX BOWL IN 2021.
